2017 marks the 50th anniversary of field hockey at Queen's University, and to celebrate this the current coaching staff and team have organized an alumnae event on Saturday, September 30. Watch the team take on the Toronto Varsity Blues at 2:15 pm at Toronto, and then proceed to join the coaches and student-athletes for a social at the Duke of York (39 Prince Arthur Ave, Toronto ON) from 4:30-6:00 pm.
"As Queen's wraps up their celebrations of being an outstanding educational institution in Canada for 175 years, the Queen's Field Hockey team is starting to celebrate our own milestone of being a competitive sport at Queen's for 50 years," said Gaels head coach
Rachelle Seguin. "I have been working with the Queen's Field Hockey team for five years and I recognize that there are many coaches that have come before me that have worked with many talented athletes. I want to thank all those who came before me for instilling the sense of pride and tradition that our current team still mirrors today. The greater Queen's field hockey family helps support our current programming and without each of you our current success would not be possible – we hope to see as many alumna out this weekend as possible to celebrate the past 50 years."
Each one of the approximately 320 women who have played the game of field hockey at Queen's have had a direct impact on the success of the program to date – without the support of alumnae, the past 50 years would not have been possible.
