The Queen's men's soccer team will continue their regular season, returning to Kingston for their home opener at Richardson Stadium on September 2 at 2:15pm against Laurentian following a 1-0 loss on the road at UOIT on Sunday.

Queen's finished the regular season with a 7-5-4 record and went on to advance to the OUA East quarter-finals against Ryerson – a game in which they fell 1-0 to the Rams in a close overtime match.

The Gaels will look to once again make a playoff push and extend their consecutive playoff appearance streak to six years.

A graduating class of nine veteran players will give rise to opportunity for a young, fast-paced squad led by seniors Tonko Bacelic (Mississauga, Ont.), Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa, Ont.) and Patrick Van Belleghem (Kenora, Ont.). Shroeter and van Belleghem combined up front to score 15 goals in 15 games for the Gaels last season.

Head Coach Christian Hoefler will lead the bench for his fourth consecutive season with the team. The 2017-18 season marks the first time a men's soccer coach has been appointed a full-time position at Queen's – a position Hoefler earned after going 28-12-14 in his first three seasons with the Gaels.

Quote from the Head Coach:
"There is a great sense of ambition towards this group of outstanding young men. Even though we are made up of younger class, every player believes and buys into this program with a spirited passion that will surely excel," said head coach Christian Hoefler. "We really hope the Kingston Soccer and Queen's University communities come out to support the best soccer in the city."
