HAMILTON, Ont. (January 21, 2017)- The Queen's Gaels women's basketball team recorded their most impressive victory of the regular season yet, staving off a fourth-quarter comeback bid from the U SPORTS No. 1 McMaster Marauders to tally a 70-68 victory on Saturday evening at Burridge Gymnasium.

Abby Dixon (North Vancouver, B.C.) tallied team-high 16 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for the Gaels, who built a 13-point lead late in the third period before the Marauders made a final 10-minute push to overtake the visitors.
The hosts went on a 12-1 run through the middle portion of the fourth-quarter to pull within a point of the Gaels lead with just over three minutes remaining.
Emily Hazlett (Fredericton, N.B.) and
Robyn Pearson (Toronto) helped the women maintain their slight lead through to the final minute of play, and McMaster Danielle Boiago missed a buzzer-beating three-point attempt, clinching the Gaels 12th straight conference victory.
Hazlett finished the game with 14 points and five assists, while Pearson added 10 points and nine boards for the Gaels (12-0), who hand the nation's top ranked squad just its second loss of the season. Linnaea Harper tallied 19 points in a losing cause for the Marauders.
