Priamo nets season-best 24, No. 5 Queen's drops Badgers to improve to 11-0

ST CATHERINES, Ont. (January 20, 2017)- Andrea Priamo knocked down a season-high 24 points, and the Queen's Gaels women's basketball team continued their unbeaten regular season with a 79-72 victory over the Brock Badgers at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday evening.

Priamo (Guelph, Ont.) shot 8-of-16 from the field and picked up 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, while Robyn Pearson (Toronto) added 12 points and a game-high 15 boards in the win for the No. 5 ranked Queen's, who improve to 11-0 on the season and 6-0 away from the Athletics Recreation Centre (ARC). Marianne Alarie (Sudbury, Ont.) added 10 points in the win, while Bridget Atkinson dropped a team-high 22 in a losing cause for the Badgers.

After entering the halftime break with a one-point lead over the host Badgers, the Gaels used a 22 point third quarter to give themselves a bit of breathing room heading into the final quarter. The women then spread the lead up to 15 midway through the final period en route to their 11th straight conference victory.

The Queen's bench dominated the hosts, picking up 22 points compared to just two for the Badgers, who drop to 4-7 on the year. Both teams maintained a solid offensive efficiency on the evening, with the Gaels shooting 43.6% from the field, while Brock shot 43.8%. The Gaels won the glass battle, picking up 51 rebounds while the Badgers managed 41.
