Full Schedule: Men's Basketball Schedule

After their best season in eight years, the Queen's men's basketball team is back on the hardwood when they hit the road to play the York Lions on November 11. The Gaels play their home opener the following week when they host Laurier on November 18.

The Gaels are coming off their first winning season under head coach Stephan Barrie, which ended in a one point loss to a nationally ranked Ottawa team in the OUA Quarter-Finals. Headlining the Gaels returning players is OUA First Team All-Star Sukhpreet Singh, who was second in points per game and eighth in steals in the conference. Averaging 22.3 points, Singh accounted for almost 30% of Queen's points during the 2015-16 season.

Joining Singh on this year's roster is fellow fifth-year Richard Iheadindu, a transfer from York. Iheadindu played from 2011-15 with the Lions, averaging 12.6 and 13.0 points per game in his last two seasons. Isse Ibrahim is the second transfer on the Gaels roster this year, moving to the OUA from the OCAA, where he averaged 10.2 and 13.4 points per game in two seasons with Canadore College.

As Barrie enters his sixth year as the head coach at Queen's, the players he recruited in his early years are starting to take shape. In addition to Singh, Tanner Graham, Jesse Graham, and Sammy Ayisi, who are entering their third year with the Gaels, are expected to play important roles. Tanner Graham was the top tricolour rebounder with 7.3 rebounds per game, and was second with 13.4 points per game.

Quote from the head coach:
"Having lost significant pieces from last year's team, we will be looking to integrate several new key members to this year's squad and will push this group to reach its potential by season's end."
