TORONTO (February 20, 2015) – The Gaels (10-8) fought through a tight first half, losing 72-62 in the end against the No. 7 Ryerson Rams this Friday night. With this win the Rams wrap up their 2014-15 regular season with a 16-3 record currently holding the third place spot to go into the OUA playoffs.
The first quarter was a close one as both teams struggled to dominate the court. The Gaels got out to a slow start from the floor shooting only 36% which gave the Rams enough of an edge to end the quarter with a 19-18 lead. The second quarter was as close as the first with the Rams outscoring the Gaels by a mere two points to put them ahead 38-35 at halftime.
Ryerson began to pull away in the third quarter as their offence found the basket for 21 points with the Gaels only managing to score 11. Heading into the final quarter the Gaels were trailing the Rams 59-46. Queen's found their footing and had a strong showing in the fourth quarter scoring 16 to the 13 scored by the Rams. The No. 7 team had gained enough of a lead to keep the Gaels from completing the comeback and ended the game with a 72-62 win.

Liz Boag (Kingston, Ont.) who put up a game high 19 points. Rookie
Marianne Alarie (Sudbury, Ont.) contributed 12 points of her own to the Gaels score while
Emily Hazlett (Fredericton, N.B.) added 11 points and six assists. Keneca Pingue-Giles was the leader for the Rams with 18 points and she was followed by Mariah Nunes who scored 15 points. Rams player Silvana Jez had a double-double performance scoring 10 and grabbing 11 rebounds.
The Gaels head into their final regular season game tomorrow night when they take on the Toronto Varsity Blues at 6:00 pm. Although the game will determine their ranking in the OUA RPI standings, the teams both have an assured spots in the playoffs that begin on February 25.
