NORTH BAY, Ont. (November 14, 2015)- The Queen's Gaels women's basketball team extended their regular season winning streak on Saturday evening, wrapping up their weekend road trip with a 71-42 victory over the Nipissing Lakers.
GAME FLOWRobyn Pearson (Toronto) recorded a game-high 18 points, shooting an impressive 8-of-14 from the field, and added 12 rebounds to earn a double-double.
Andrea Priamo (Guelph, Ont.) and
Marianne Alarie (Sudbury, Ont.) each added 10 points for the Gaels (3-0), who shot 41.9% (26-62) overall and outrebounded the Lakers 33-29. Claire Abbott tallied a team-high 10 points in a losing cause for the Lakers (1-3).
With the scored tied at 17-17 after the opening quarter of play, Queen's outscored the Lakers by nine points in the second to take a considerable lead into halftime. The visitors then held Nipissing to single digits in each of the final two quarters of play, just seven field goals and a 26.9% shooting efficiency. The Gaels bench outscored Nipissing's 31-3, and the women also grabbed 25 points off the host's 30 turnovers in helping to consolidate their third-straight victory.
UP NEXTThe Gaels return to the Athletics and Recreation Centre next weekend to host McMaster and Brock on Friday and Saturday respectively. Tip-off for both games is set for 6:00 p.m.
