KINGSTON, Ont. (June 4, 2014) – Queen's Athletics & Recreation announced today that Chris Gencarelli is stepping down from his position as the Men's Soccer Head Coach to pursue his teaching career.
Gencarelli completed his fifth season as head coach of the Queen's men's soccer team. A certified Pre-B coach and a Provincial B License candidate who returned to the Gaels program as head coach 2010, he lead the team to a winning record in each of his four seasons amassing a regular season record of 32-16-9. The team's most successful season came in 2012, where the Gaels finished with an overall record of 11-1-2, capturing their first OUA East division title in four years and qualifying for the OUA Final Four Championships. The team's success was recognized by the OUA, with five Gaels earning all-star recognition, and Gencarelli earning OUA East Coach of the Year honours for the first time in his career.
"Chris has a long standing connection with the Queen's soccer program, as a player and then as a coach. Through his efforts the program has seen much progress over his tenure as Head Coach. We thank Chris for his service to Queen's and wish him every success in his future endeavors," commented

The search process for a new Head Coach for the Men's Soccer Program will commence immediately. This part-time position is responsible for all coaching elements associated with the sport program. Reporting to the Manager, Interuniversity Sport, the incumbent is responsible for the overall direction, planning, recruitment, team selection, player development, technical & tactical preparation. In collaboration with the Manager, the incumbent will design and implement a comprehensive sport development plan conducive to positioning Queen's at a level of Provincial and National prominence.
