Track team starts off season with two meets

| By:
TORONTO - (January 6, 2014) - The Queen's Track team has opened the season in two small meets with optimistic results. First up was a small contingent from the distance team racing in Ottawa on December 21st. Standout performance of the meet goes to cross country rookie of the year Alex Wilkie, who clocked in at 3:56.86 in the 1500m to place second.

The next competition was the Sharon Anderson Memorial at University of Toronto this past Saturday on January 4th. A small group of sprinters participated in the meet. The Queen's performances of the meet belong to rookie sensations Mary Ollier and Steve Wilkins-Reeves in the 60m hurdles. Mary placed 3rd in the meet, and her time of 9.51 in the preliminary rounds places her as 9th fastest Queen's woman over that distance. Steve was the 2nd place male, and his final time of 8.89 ranks him 7th all-time at Queen's.

Next up is another meet at the Louis Riel Dome in Ottawa on January 11th. The full team will be competing in this meet to start off the semester.
