Queen's rowers raced at the Brock Invitational Regatta on Saturday, achieving a total of four top finishes, along with many other strong performances in the finals.
The women's double with Elise Hoffmann and Larkin Davenport-Huyer won their event in a time of 7:21.6. Joined by Emily Home, Liz Price, Michelle Truax, Chloe Des Roche, Emily Jewell, Tori Graham, and coxswain Sean Whitehall, they went on to win the women's eight, finishing just over a second ahead of the Western crew in a time of 6:28.5. Whitehall, Home, Truax, Price and Graham also raced the women's coxed four and placed third in their final.
The men's lightweight 8 with Jordan Rendall, Jordan Wille, Alan Payno-Montoya, Pat McCrady, Matt Christie, Mark Bonar, Brendan Coffey, Chris Zakos, and coxswain Jacob Koudys won their event in a time of 5:49.3. Christie, McCrady, Coffey, Zakos, and Koudys later placed third in the men's lightweight coxed four, while Rendall, Willie, Payno-Montoya, and Bonar were joined by coxswain Ellie Aylward to placing fourth in the same event.
The lightweight women's coxed four with Flurry Hoog, Jen Johnston, Kelsey Hayes, Anise Truman and coxswain Shelby Stinnissen placed first with a ten second lead on Western's second place crew. Single sculler Danielle Abusow placed second in the lightweight women's single with a time of 7:53.3. Lightweight Women's eight with Sean Peterson, Bekah Brown, Courtney Coston, Katie Prufer, Alison Fox, Sarah Fisher, Natasha Hesp, Megan Penney and cozswain Lindsey Wilson placed third in their event. Peterson and Brown later raced the lightweight women's double, placing fourth in their final. Fox, Hesp, and Penney were joined by Emily Featherstone to place third in the lightweight women's quad.
The men's coxed four with Albert Harkema, Robert Cooper, Eric Farquharson, Joe Kunkel, and coxswain Stephen Tuffner placed third in a time of 6:17.3. The men's eight with Will Kennedy, John Ross, Stephen Holloway, Mike Howard, Scott Macdonald, Joey Coward, Shane Mullen, Jake Rothman and coxswain Bailey MacKenzie also placed third in their event.
The Gaels' next regatta is set for Saturday and Sunday, October 20-21, as they travel to Boston for the Head of the Charles.
