KINGSTON, Ont. (February 15, 2010) – Queen's Athletics & Recreation is pleased to announce that Erin Roberts of Calgary, and Scott Bowman of Milton, Ont., have been named the Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 14.

Roberts helped the Queen's women's squash team capture the OUA Championship this past weekend in Waterloo. The first year engineering major was the Gaels #1 competitor in both matches, facing off against her opponents top players, and came out victorious in each match. Facing the Varsity Blues' Megan Northey in the semifinal, the OUA Rookie of the Year came out on top 3-0 and in the final, she edged Western's Samantha Hennings 3-2.

Bowman is a sabre fencer for the Queen's Gaels who helped lead the men's team to a bronze medal at the OUA Championship in Ottawa this weekend. The biochemistry major captured individual gold in the men's sabre and also led the men's sabre team to a silver medal in the team relay. For that performance, he was named co-winner of the George Tully Trophy, awarded to the male fencer who is most proficient in skill, style and sportsmanship.
